Wealthy Russians boost Dorchester hotel owner

Europe may be in the grip of an economic storm but wealthy tourists from Russia and Brazil have helped the Dorchester Group, owner of some of the world's most opulent hotels, to increase sales almost 9pc.

The company, which owns the Dorchester in London and Le Meurice in Paris, saw the average occupancy of its hotels rise from 67pc in 2010 to 69pc last year as the super rich showed they were still prepared to spend hundreds of pounds per night on a room.

Turnover rose 8.9pc to £290m.

Revenue per available room, a key measure of trading strength in the hotel industry, increased 7pc from £332 to £349, accounts filed at Companies House show.
